Hickory Corners, MI
With the recent “Polar Vortex” deep freezing Michigan, like so many others you might have a touch of cabin fever, ready for spring. You may also be looking for something fun and unique in honor of Valentine’s Day. One very popular annual event that is certain to help any of these conundrums is the “Pint with the Past” at the Gilmore Car Museum. It’s a Michigan craft beer tasting event and Museum fundraiser held on location in Hickory Corners, northeast of Kalamazoo.
DRAFT Magazine recently listed the Gilmore Car Museum’s annual “Pint with the Past” at North America’s Largest Auto Museum as one of the top 101 best “bucket list” beer experiences in the world.
At this year’s event guests will enjoy themselves amid the vintage cars and special exhibits showcasing Duesenbergs—the Supercars of the ultra-wealthy during the 1930s, Muscle Cars and actual “Barn Find” cars while they experience the various Michigan brewery’s tasting stations mixed throughout the museum galleries.
Those attending “Pint with the Past” will have the opportunity to sample craft brews, delight in a variety of hors d’oeuvres and enjoy the easy-listening music of guitarist Jack Dastoli, as well as crowd favorite award-winning Big Boss Blues—the “hardest working blues band in West Michigan.”
The Gilmore Car Museum has teamed up to feature some of Michigan’s most popular brewers including Bell’s and Founder’s Breweries. The “Pint with the Past” is open to those 21 and older. The evening runs from 7 pm – 10 pm on Saturday, February 16th and makes a perfect post-Valentine’s event.
Tasting tickets are $50 each via the Museum’s website and include a souvenir tasting glass. A non-alcohol “Designated Driver” admission ticket is $25 online (GilmoreCarMuseum.org), both tickets can also be purchased at the door the evening of the event, Saturday, February 16th.
The Gilmore Car Museum near Kalamazoo displays nearly 400 vehicles year-round and currently showcases three additional special interest exhibits: Duesenbergs, Barn Finds and Muscle Cars.
